Christmas traditions: In with the old, and in with the new!

What do you most remember from your childhood? Many people point to the traditions they had with parents, friends, or others as some of the best – and most memorable – times of their lives. Christmas and the holiday season is a particularly tradition-laden time of year. We took this opportunity to ask the Kinedu team to share the Christmas traditions they cherish the most. Hopefully these ideas will serve as fodder for starting or renewing your own holiday traditions!

When I was young, my family and I would place the sheep from the Nativity scene close to the Christmas tree. If my siblings and I were well-behaved, we would get the chance to move the sheep closer to the tree. If not, we couldn’t move it any closer. At the end of the day, we would always discuss what we did that day, and whether the sheep should move or not. Mine always made it to the tree by Christmas!

In my family, we would always try to get the person receiving a gift to guess what it was before opening it. We used riddles to try to get them to guess! Another of the traditions that I’m fond of is celebrating December 25th with my family, and the 24th with friends and friend’s families. We would always be able to make the other parties we were invited to!

Kinedu 2.0: The new Milestones checklist

Because you asked for it – now, with Kinedu 2.0 you can easily update your baby’s milestones at any time! We’ve made it simpler to keep track of your child’s huge accomplishments (as well as each little one!).

Presenting Milestones, a new section of our app. You might be wondering how it works; it’s quite simple! This section presents a list of developmentally appropriate milestones according to your child’s age. That way, you know what milestones you should expect in the upcoming months! You can update the list at any time and record what milestones your child has reached. Simply check them off – the checkmarks that are filled out represent accomplished milestones! You can select different developmental areas to assess: physical, social and emotional, linguistic, and cognitive. When you are done reviewing the milestones, click on the Submit button below.

You might notice that some milestones are presented as a bullet below other milestones. Those represent milestones that are related to one another, and accomplishing the first in some cases automatically means the bullets below have been reached as well, in most cases they will help you look out for more specific behaviors related to a milestone.

We know that it’s exciting when your baby reaches a new milestone, and now you can keep track of each one!

Kinedu 2.0: The new and improved progress report!

The latest version of our app has a lot of exciting new features and improvements. One of the things we noticed that was very important for our users, was the progress section of our app. Most importantly, understanding how their babies were doing compared to the average child. That is why we worked hard to bring you a new way to view your child’s progress – with a clearer interface that is easier to understand!

This is how the progress report works:

It is divided by key areas of development, Physical, Linguistic, Cognitive and Social and Emotional, the same way the activities are. The first chart you see represents the percentage of milestones achieved in the initial assessment; the second chart, called ‘live progress’, represents current percentage of achieved milestones; the third one represents the percentage of milestones achieved by the average same-age baby. Browse through each area and find out where are your baby’s strengths and areas of opportunity!

Kinedu News: Tracks Feature Released

Hi Readers!

We are happy to announce that our Kinedu Tracks feature has just been released! Our Tracks program is designed to support your baby’s development by working on a specific skill. These skills include sitting, crawling, walking, building social skills, saying his first words, and many others!

Unlike the Kinedugram, that works to boost holistic development, the Tracks program is focused on achieving a specific goal. Our Tracks catalogue includes 19 fun tracks for you and your baby, with a total of over 270 activities! Activities range from simple to complex, so that everyone will find something they like! For example, if you are looking to prepare your child to crawl, the ‘Learning to crawl’ track will provide activities that range from 0 to 9 months. The simplest activities will work on strengthening your baby’s legs, arms, and core, while the most complex will include practicing the all fours position.

Tracks are currently available on our web app, exclusively for our premium users!

The Kinedu Team

Coming soon to Kinedu!

When we launched in mid-2013, we only had activities for babies 0-12 months old. Only a year later, we released the 246 activities for toddlers 13-24 months old!
Our team has been working hard on creating more activities that are both fun and educational for your little ones (and yourself)! These will be in the form of additional activities for years 0-2. Expect a seasonal flair – these will be the first ‘themed’ Kinedu activities!
We’ll keep you posted on release dates so that you have plenty of Halloween, Thanksgiving, Christmas, and other holiday activities at hand.
As usual, happy playing!
