What kind of workouts are safe for me?

Did you know that exercising regularly during pregnancy can make a difference in how you feel? In addition to keeping you healthy, exercise can help alleviate those bothersome backaches and help combat fatigue. And that’s not all! It can also prevent gestational diabetes, reduce stress, and improve the birthing process. Not bad at all, right?

The key here is to exercise in moderation, without overdoing it. Keep your heart rate below 140 beats per minute to ensure you don’t exhaust yourself. An ideal option to stay active during pregnancy is simply walking. You only need 30 minutes a day, every day or almost every day of the week. A relaxing walk can work wonders!

But if walking isn’t your thing, don’t worry. There are other types of exercises you can safely engage in. How about swimming, using a stationary bike, playing tennis, or doing moderate aerobics? You have plenty of options! Just remember to consult your doctor, and avoid sports that require holding your breath, like diving, or those involving physical contact, such as soccer, basketball, or volleyball. We want you and your baby to stay safe at all times.

Remember, when you exercise, make sure to wear comfortable clothing and supportive underwear. It’s also important to consume enough calories and wait at least an hour after eating before exercising. Stay hydrated by drinking enough water, and above all, remember not to overdo it. Your health and your baby’s wellbeing are the most important thing!

Finally, we want to remind you that it’s always important to listen to your body. If you experience headaches, chest, abdominal, or pelvic pain, or if you have vaginal bleeding or notice a decrease or absence of your baby’s movements, it’s essential to contact your doctor right away. Don’t take any risks! If you experience palpitations or shortness of breath, it’s also a good idea to seek medical attention.
