1. Nutritious Food Collage

Materials

  • Images of healthy foods
  • Scissors
  • Glue
  • Paper sheets

Instructions

To start, give the children images of healthy foods (you can print them or find them in magazines or newspapers). Ask them to look at the different images and identify the foods based on their color, shape, etc. Praise them when they correctly identify a food, and have them cut out the corresponding images. Then, help them glue each picture onto a sheet of paper, creating a collage of healthy foods. This activity will allow them to become familiar with various nutritious foods without the pressure of trying them, and it will strengthen their language comprehension for receiving instructions.

2. Toy Collage

Materials

  • Magazines with toy images
  • Scissors
  • Glue
  • Cardboard
  • Decoration materials (colored pencils, markers, stickers, etc.)

Instructions

For this collage activity, start by showing the children magazines with toy images and let them explore the pictures freely. Then, ask them to choose three images of the toys they like the most. If they can, have them cut out the images. If they can’t use scissors yet, cut out the images for them and let them glue the pictures onto a piece of cardboard and decorate with different materials. This activity allows them to develop their decision-making skills, fine motor coordination, and artistic expression, stimulating their creativity and imagination.

3. My Shapes Collage I

Materials

  • Colored paper sheets
  • Colored pencils
  • Scissors
  • Glue
  • Cardboard

Instructions

To start this activity, explain to the children that they will create a collage of geometric shapes. Take sheets of paper of different colors and draw circles, triangles, and squares of different sizes. Encourage them to draw shapes on their own, using your drawings as an example. Then, cut out all the shapes and let them glue them onto a piece of cardboard freely, creating a large and colorful collage. During the process, review the name of each shape and ask the children to repeat it. This collage activity stimulates fine motor skills and helps review the names of basic geometric shapes.

4. Color Collage

Materials

  • Blank paper sheets
  • Pieces of colored paper
  • Scissors
  • Glue
  • Images (optional)
  • Decoration materials (colored pencils, markers, stickers, etc.)

Instructions

Sit with the children and explain that they will be doing a collage activity in which they can create any figure they want. Support their interests by letting them choose what they want to draw. Explain that the activity consists of gluing different pieces of paper and images to form a shape, any shape they want. If needed, you can help guide their little hands during the process until they can do it on their own. If they get frustrated, offer assistance and praise their efforts. If they have difficulty starting or continuing the activity, suggest some materials and ask if they want to use them in their collage. The goal of this activity is to stimulate the children’s creativity and independence by choosing materials and organizing the collage.

Collage activities can play a very important role in children’s overall development. By allowing them to explore different materials, colors, textures, and shapes, these activities stimulate fine motor coordination, creativity, artistic expression, and cognitive skills. Additionally, they promote the development of concentration, attention, and visual perception in children.
